Would like to ask some advice on carrying a spare paddle while river running / playboating.
Is this something that should be carried every time, like floatation and a throwbag?
And what are the storage options (for a 4 piece breakdown model or a telescoping cheap single blade paddle), with the limited space in modern playboats? _________________ Dave B

Best rule of thumb for spare paddle is," are you too far away from your car to walk back?" _________________ You can take me out of the white trash but you cant take the white trash out of me. |

I know a lot fewer folks who carry a spare than ones who do (on local runs). A common compromise is to stow a set of hand paddles. That's what I've decided to do, but that also means I need to practice with them on a fairly regular basis. _________________ Lee |

Thanks for the hand paddle comment. Had not thought of that, sounds like a great compromise. _________________ Dave B

In my small Kingpin a spare paddle isn't an option. I carry hand paddles, and pray I don't have to use them. Shoulders will be sore the next day if you do. _________________ Shawn
