Nearly excellent float on the Kaw today

Post by bwbwetarnp&co » Sat Sep 02, 2006 6:23 pm

Kudos to Don for putting together a great day to float from Rising Sun to Lawrence. The weather was mild, wind was with us for most of the trip and the water was about as placid as you could get. Which brings us to the part which could have been improved. The flow was a little lacking, otherwise we had a great trip with one stay over on a sand bar and a total of 13 people on 12 boats which I call a success. Thanks Don!

OK... I'll take credit for the weather (75º, mostly sunny, light winds.) We just had a great group of people show up. Nick's minivan and Brian's trailer helped with the shuttle. Things couldn't have gone more smoothly.

I'm used to paddling the Kaw in July and August at 700 cfs. 1200 cfs seemed like plenty of current to me. Next time I'll try to control the flow as well as the weather.
