Phase 2:
Phase 2 will include actual modifications to the ledge to improve the hole performance. Currently the wave is only usable at 700 to 1,000 cfs and require sometimes special changes to get these releases. Because of this KWA is seeking to alter the angle of the wave to provide safe playing conditions from 250 cfs up to as high as they release. This will reduce special requests to the Corps of Engineers and also provide many more days a year to enjoy this feature and at different releases.

Why build a whitewater park?
Not only to whitewater parks provide a new form of recreation, but also increase the safety of these locations, bring sometimes millions of dollars of revenue to the city each year, create a better fishery habitat, and increase the recreation use of our parks.
Whitewater sports are some of the fastest growing sports in America and Whitewater parks have been created all over the country to support this growth. This park will add to the existing recreational opportunities including the dog park, athletic fields and pavilion.

Who will enjoy this?
Boaters
All enhancements made to the river will be for the publics enjoyment and would be designed to accommodate the entire spectrum of boating enthusiasts and could provide a location for future competitions and events.

Fishermen
The stream enhancements will attract fish to the area which will in-turn attract fishermen. Fishermen will be able to frequent the area both during the boating season and during the off-season.

Hikers, spectators, and others
Hikers, bikers, walkers and spectators will also be able to enjoy the park to watch people using the location and have better access to the surrounding recreational opportunities.
